Born and raised in Pretoria JP better know as the Joint Pusher has always had passion for music. His passion led him to move to Johannesburg where he was able to mc in the underground scene. He studied sound engineering and holds an advance diploma in sound engineering and sound technology.
JP became known for his freestyles and started making noise in the music scene. In 2001 he joined Hoodoo Squad and they released their 1st offering called Wood Choppa. While rapping he still worked on radio, TV projects as an Audio Engineer creating scores, jingles and adds for local film and drama. In 2004 he was able to drop Decision maker sound track and the when Jeppe was a two way street which got him winning best sound award in the 3 continents film festival.
He later co-founded a company called Blak Sun Entertainment which focused on Production and IT providing skills programming, Graphix, audio and Hip hop workshops. He also works as senior audio engineer at summit TV, home channel and ignition TV. JP also has mixed on shows like the lab, zooming in on man to name a few. Between working and mcing JP also has time to continue to rap and produce for other emcee.
2009 he started working on Pushers Anonymous (the one take art) and was released in 31 March 2010 the first to drop a freestyle tape in Africa. The mixtape was well received and saw JP perform at festivals like Back to the city to 8000 people. He also made several appearances on Hype magazine, Vinyl1980, ETV’s Shizniz, SABC, Soweto tv Just music Hip hop and also held Hip hop workshop at Splash Jam.
In June 2010 he started working on the Mawe2’s album producing and mastering the Dreamworld album. Amongst many his projects He also had the opportunity to mix and master the award winning Teargas mixtape and TTP Presents Hip Hop Sessions vol 1.
He has had varied and extensive club experience and has performed all over South Africa, and Shared stages with Ben Sharper, Zubs ,Zaki Ebrahim, Tumi and the volume,Ill Sub-t and the 7seals,Projectah, 3rd wave, Smerf, Inta, R-senic, Ozmic, Quaz, Articulate army, Qba, and Mothipa. JP also engineered for jazz artists like Vusi Khumalo and Selaelo Selota to name a few.
He also gives his time by shooting dvds and presenting at events like Back to the City and the Ritual Stores.
